During Tuesday evening’s matchup, the Cleveland Cavaliers were bested by the Boston Celtics 113-119 at home at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, OH. The Cavaliers had no inactive players for the game. Simultaneously, Inactive players for the Celtics included Enes Kanter. The loss brings the Cavaliers to 0-1 in the series vs. the Celtics and to 2-5 in the regular season.

On the Cavaliers, Tristan Thompson recorded 19 points in 37:04, going 7/15 (46.7%) from the field. Thompson also got a solid team-high 13 rebounds and had a team-high 4 assists. Collin Sexton recorded a team-high 21 points, scoring 6/14 (42.9%) from the field in 35:26. Jordan Clarkson scored 12 points, albeit he struggled with his shot, scoring 4/13 (30.8%) from the field in 26:24. In addition to his points, Clarkson also dished a team-high 4 assists. Additional key performers included Cedi Osman (who got 5 rebounds),Kevin Love (who added 17 points and managed to grab 9 rebounds), and Larry Nance Jr. (who got 15 points).

1st Quarter

The Cavaliers struggled at the start of the 1st Quarter, going 2/11 from the field and 0/4 from the three point mark in the first half of the quarter for a total of 5 points. Small Forward Cedi Osman was one of the players who struggled starting the quarter, shooting 0/4 from the field and 0/2 from the three point mark for 1 points. Center Tristan Thompson recorded 2 points and managed to pull down 2 rebounds. Shooting Guard Collin Sexton boasted 2 points. On the other hand, the Celtics had no issues in the first half of the quarter, making 6/11 from the field and 1/5 from deep for a total of 13 points. Point Guard Kemba Walker was a vital contributor in this decent start for the Celtics as he had 5 points on 2/3 shooting (1/1 from deep).

Despite the bad start to the 1st Quarter, the Cavaliers shot much better to round out the quarter, boasting 19 points while going 6/12 from the field and 4/6 from the three point mark. 2nd Quarter

The 2nd Quarter was set in motion with no major issues as the Cavaliers went 5/11 from the field and 0/5 from three in the first half of the quarter for a total of 11 points. Jordan Clarkson was an important contributor in this reasonable start as he gained 3 points on 1/4 shooting (0/2 from three). Furthermore, Clarkson also grabbed 1 rebound. Likewise, the Celtics also performed well at the start of the period, scoring 5/10 from the field and 2/4 from the three point mark for a total of 14 points. Small Forward Jayson Tatum was a key contributor in this decent start for the Celtics as he recorded 6 points on 3/5 shooting (0/1 from deep). In addition to his points, Tatum also grabbed 1 rebound. 3rd Quarter

Conversely, the Celtics had little trouble in the beginning, scoring 5/9 from the field and 1/4 from the three point mark for a total of 11 points. Power Forward Gordon Hayward was a prime player in this good start for the Celtics as he scored 4 points on 2/4 shooting (0/2 from three). Hayward also dished 1 assist and managed to pull down 2 rebounds in addition to his points.

Despite the pitiful start to the 3rd Quarter, the Cavaliers polished up their shooting to wrap up the quarter, adding 20 points while going 6/11 from the field and 4/5 from three. The Celtics also had no trouble closing out the period, adding 17 points on 8/13 shooting (1/5 from three). The 3rd Quarter ended with the Cavaliers trailing the Celtics by 6 points (83-89). 4th Quarter

The 4th Quarter started with the Cavaliers struggling to get things going, recording 5/13 from the field and 2/6 from the three point mark in the first half of the quarter for a total of 14 points. Small Forward Cedi Osman was among those who had trouble contributing at the start of the quarter, shooting 2/6 from the field and 1/3 from deep for 5 points.
