During Friday evening’s match, the Cleveland Cavaliers were bested by the New Orleans Pelicans 104-116 away at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, LA. Alfonzo McKinnie and Dylan Windler were out for the Cavaliers. At the same time, All players on the Pelicans were active for the game. The defeat brings the Cavaliers to 0-2 in the series against the Pelicans and to 17-42 in the regular season.

On the Cavaliers, Kevin Love had 10 points in 26:43, albeit he struggled shooting, shooting 4/11 (36.4%) from the field. In addition to points, Love also got a team-high 7 rebounds. 2nd Quarter

Ante Zizic was a prime player in this hot start as he added 4 points on 2/2 shooting (0/0 from the three point mark). Zizic also added 1 assist in addition to his points. The Pelicans had little trouble as well in the first half of the quarter, shooting 6/11 from the field and 2/4 from the three point mark for a total of 17 points. Nicolo Melli was an important contributor in this principled start for the Pelicans as he got 6 points on 2/3 shooting (1/1 from the three point mark). In addition to his points, Melli also made 1 assist, added 1 block, and managed to grab 2 rebounds. E’Twaun Moore boasted 5 points and added 1 block.

After the convincing start to the 2nd Quarter, the Cavaliers continued the performance to round off the quarter, gaining 15 points while going 5/10 from the field and 1/3 from three. Power Forward Kevin Love was among those who had a sluggish start to the quarter, shooting 0/1 from the field and 0/0 from the three point mark for no points. Small Forward Cedi Osman gained 4 points. Center Tristan Thompson gained 4 points and got 2 rebounds. Point Guard Darius Garland got 4 points and had 1 assist. On the other hand, the Pelicans had no issues in the beginning, making 8/11 from the field and 0/1 from the three point mark for a total of 18 points. 4th Quarter

The Cavaliers had trouble getting things going at the beginning of the 4th Quarter, recording 3/10 from the field and 2/5 from the three point mark in the first half of the quarter for a total of 8 points. Kevin Porter Jr. was one of the players who had issues at the start of the quarter, shooting 1/4 from the field and 0/2 from three for 2 points. Shooting Guard Collin Sexton added 3 points, added 1 assist, and had 2 rebounds. Point Guard Darius Garland gained 3 points. In contrast, the Pelicans had no issues in the first half of the quarter, scoring 6/12 from the field and 2/6 from three for a total of 14 points.
