During Saturday evening’s affair, the Cleveland Cavaliers won against the Denver Nuggets 104-102 at home in Cleveland, OH at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Andre Drummond, Darius Garland, and Dean Wade were out for the Cavaliers Simultaneously, All players on the Nuggets were active for the game. With the win, the Cavaliers improve to 18-45 in the regular season and to 2-0 vs. the Nuggets in the series.

For the Cavaliers, Kevin Love had a team-high 27 points, shooting 9/17 (52.9%) from the field and 5/11 (45.5%) from deep in 36:53. In addition to his points, Love also got 6 rebounds. Tristan Thompson added 9 points in 37:55, scoring 4/10 (40.0%) from the field. In addition, Thompson also added an elegant team-high 13 rebounds and dished out 5 assists. Matthew Dellavedova got 7 points in 31:06, going 3/4 (75.0%) from the field. In addition to his points, Dellavedova also got a skillful team-high 14 assists and added 6 rebounds. Additional notable contributors were Cedi Osman (who boasted 20 points),Collin Sexton (who scored 25 points, added 6 rebounds, and added a skillful 5 assists), and Larry Nance Jr. (who made a skillful 4 assists).

For the Nuggets, Will Barton recorded a team-high 22 points in 36:38, going 9/18 (50.0%) from the field. Barton also added a team-high 8 rebounds and added 4 assists. Nikola Jokic boasted 8 points, although he struggled making his shot fall, going 4/11 (36.4%) from the field in 32:17. In addition to points, Jokic also grabbed a team-high 8 rebounds and added a team-high 8 assists. Additional notable performances were made by Gary Harris (who scored 18 points and added 5 steals),Jamal Murray (who boasted 17 points, got 7 assists, and got 5 rebounds), and Jerami Grant (who grabbed 4 steals).

1st Quarter

The 1st Quarter launched with no major issues as the Cavaliers went 5/9 from the field and 2/4 from the three point mark in the first half of the quarter for a total of 12 points. Shooting Guard Collin Sexton was a valuable contributor in this decent start as he had 6 points on 3/5 shooting (0/0 from deep). The Nuggets had no issues as well at the start of the quarter, scoring 8/11 from the field and 5/6 from the three point mark for a total of 21 points. Small Forward Will Barton was a prime player in this exceptional start for the Nuggets as he gained 8 points on 3/5 shooting (2/3 from deep). Barton also passed out 1 assist and pulled down 4 rebounds in addition to his points. Shooting Guard Gary Harris recorded 6 points and got 1 assist.

After the sound start to the 1st Quarter, the Cavaliers continued the effort to finish the quarter, gaining 11 points while going 5/10 from the field and 0/3 from three. The Nuggets also faced no issues while closing out the period, adding 12 points on 5/11 shooting (2/6 from three). The 1st Quarter finished with the Cavaliers trailing the Nuggets by 10 points (23-33). Gary Harris was the biggest contributor of the quarter, scoring 10 points. On the Cavaliers, Collin Sexton scored 6 points.

2nd Quarter

The 2nd Quarter began rapidly as the Cavaliers shot 8/12 from the field and 4/5 from deep in the first half of the quarter for a total of 21 points. Power Forward Kevin Love was a valuable contributor in this reasonable start as he got 8 points on 3/4 shooting (2/3 from the three point mark). Love also pulled down 1 rebound in addition to his points. Small Forward Cedi Osman got 7 points and pulled down 1 rebound. The Nuggets had little trouble in similar fashion at the start of the period, shooting 6/10 from the field and 1/4 from deep for a total of 14 points. Jerami Grant was a valuable contributor in this decent start for the Nuggets as he had 5 points on 2/2 shooting (1/1 from three). Grant also had 1 rebound in addition to his points.

After the decent start to the 2nd Quarter, the Cavaliers continued to play well to finish the period, scoring 14 points while going 7/10 from the field and 0/2 from three. The Nuggets also faced no issues while closing up the period, adding 14 points on 6/11 shooting (1/5 from three). The 2nd Quarter ended with the Cavaliers trailing the Nuggets by 3 points (58-61). Kevin Love was the largest contributor of the quarter, scoring 10 points. On the Nuggets, Will Barton scored 7 points.

3rd Quarter

The 3rd Quarter started unexceptionally as the Cavaliers went 6/9 from the field and 3/6 from the three point mark in the first half of the quarter for a total of 17 points. Small Forward Cedi Osman was a vital player in this decent start as he scored 8 points on 3/3 shooting (2/2 from the three point mark). Shooting Guard Collin Sexton got 5 points, dished out 1 assist, swiped 1 steal, and added 1 rebound. Murray also dished 2 assists and managed to grab 1 rebound in addition to his points.

Following the reasonable start to the 3rd Quarter, the Cavaliers continued to shoot well to round out the quarter, boasting 10 points while going 5/10 from the field and 0/3 from three. The Nuggets, simultaneously, struggled while finishing out the period, adding 10 points on 4/11 shooting (1/2 from the three point mark). The 3rd Quarter closed with the Cavaliers trailing the Nuggets by 2 points (85-83). Cedi Osman was the main contributor of the quarter, scoring 8 points. On the Nuggets, Jamal Murray scored 6 points.

4th Quarter

The Cavaliers had a rough go at the beginning of the 4th Quarter, recording 2/9 from the field and 1/3 from the three point mark in the first half of the quarter for a total of 5 points. Small Forward Cedi Osman was included in those who had a sluggish start to the quarter, shooting 0/3 from the field and 0/1 from three for no points. Power Forward Kevin Love got 3 points and added 1 rebound. Conversely, the Nuggets had little trouble at the start of the period, shooting 5/9 from the field and 0/0 from three for a total of 10 points. Michael Porter Jr. was a major contributor in this principled start for the Nuggets as he gained 4 points on 2/3 shooting (0/0 from the three point mark). In addition to points, Porter Jr. also added 1 assist and added 1 rebound.

Despite the mediocre start to the 4th Quarter, the Cavaliers bettered their shooting to close out the period, recording 14 points while going 4/7 from the field and 2/2 from three.
