During Monday evening’s contest, the Cleveland Cavaliers came away with a loss against the Memphis Grizzlies 91-101 at home at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, OH. Collin Sexton was out for the Cavaliers. Simultaneously, Inactive players for the Grizzlies included John Konchar. The win brings the Cavaliers to 1-1 in the series against the Grizzlies and to 5-6 in the regular season.

On the Cavaliers, Andre Drummond added a team-high 19 points in 34:37, going 8/16 (50.0%) from the field. In addition to points, Drummond also grabbed an elegant team-high 14 rebounds. Damyean Dotson added 14 points, scoring 6/14 (42.9%) from the field in 37:01. In addition to his points, Dotson also dished out a team-high 6 assists. Other major performers were Cedi Osman (who added 4 assists),Larry Nance Jr. (who pulled down 5 rebounds),Isaac Okoro (who swiped 3 steals), and JaVale McGee (who got 7 rebounds and pulled off 3 blocks).

For the Grizzlies, Kyle Anderson recorded 8 points in 30:46, shooting 2/5 (40.0%) from the field. In addition to his points, Anderson also made a team-high 9 assists and pulled down 6 rebounds. Jonas Valanciunas gained 12 points in 29:48, scoring 6/10 (60.0%) from the field. In addition to points, Valanciunas also added a team-high 7 rebounds. Dillon Brooks scored a team-high 21 points in 33:21, going 6/15 (40.0%) from the field. In addition to points, Brooks also had a team-high 7 rebounds. Other important efforts were achieved by Brandon Clarke (who scored 15 points) and Tyus Jones (who passed out 7 assists, grabbed 5 rebounds, and had 3 steals).

1st Quarter

The 1st Quarter was set in motion as expected as the Cavaliers went 7/11 from the field and 3/6 from three in the first half of the quarter for a total of 17 points. Power Forward Larry Nance Jr. was a vital contributor in this principled start as he got 8 points on 3/3 shooting (2/2 from three). The Grizzlies also had no trouble closing out the period, recording 14 points on 6/11 shooting (0/2 from the three point mark). The 1st Quarter closed with the Cavaliers leading by 3 points (27-24). Larry Nance Jr. was the biggest contributor of the quarter, scoring 10 points. On the Grizzlies, Brandon Clarke scored 5 points.

2nd Quarter

The Cavaliers had a rough go at the start of the 2nd Quarter, going 3/8 from the field and 2/2 from three in the first half of the quarter for a total of 10 points. Shooting Guard Isaac Okoro was one player who had issues at the start of the quarter, shooting 1/3 from the field and 1/1 from deep for 3 points. Shooting Guard Isaac Okoro gained 3 points. Point Guard Damyean Dotson boasted 3 points, got 1 assist, and had 2 rebounds. In like manner, the Grizzlies also had issues at the start of the quarter, scoring 4/11 from the field and 1/5 from deep for a total of 9 points. Grayson Allen was one of the players on the Grizzlies who had trouble contributing at the start of the quarter, shooting 1/3 from the field and 1/3 from three for 3 points. Center Jonas Valanciunas had 6 points and pulled down 1 rebound.

After the pitiful start to the 2nd Quarter, the Cavaliers continued the poor shooting effort to close out the quarter, adding 9 points while going 4/10 from the field and 1/2 from three. The Grizzlies, at the same time, had no trouble finishing out the period, scoring 14 points on 6/10 shooting (0/0 from the three point mark). The 2nd Quarter finished with the Cavaliers trailing the Grizzlies by 1 point (46-47). Andre Drummond was the biggest contributor of the quarter, scoring 6 points. On the Grizzlies, Jonas Valanciunas scored 6 points.

3rd Quarter

The 3rd Quarter opened with the Cavaliers struggling to get things going, scoring 3/11 from the field and 0/2 from the three point mark in the first half of the quarter for a total of 7 points. Center Andre Drummond was among those who had a slow start to the quarter, shooting 1/3 from the field and 0/0 from the three point mark for 3 points. Center Andre Drummond scored 3 points, got 1 assist, swiped 1 steal, and got 2 rebounds. In contrast, the Grizzlies had little trouble in the first half of the quarter, scoring 7/10 from the field and 2/5 from deep for a total of 16 points. Shooting Guard Dillon Brooks was an important player in this excellent start for the Grizzlies as he scored 5 points on 2/2 shooting (1/1 from the three point mark). Additionally, Brooks also made 1 block and added 2 rebounds.

Despite the mediocre start to the 3rd Quarter, the Cavaliers improved their shooting to finish the quarter, gaining 18 points while going 7/11 from the field and 3/4 from three. The 3rd Quarter finished with the Cavaliers trailing the Grizzlies by 6 points (71-77). Brandon Clarke was the main contributor of the quarter, scoring 8 points. On the Cavaliers, Cedi Osman scored 6 points.

4th Quarter

The 4th Quarter launched unexceptionally as the Cavaliers went 6/12 from the field and 2/4 from deep in the first half of the quarter for a total of 15 points. Point Guard Damyean Dotson was a major contributor in this reasonable start as he added 4 points on 2/2 shooting (0/0 from three). Dotson also dished out 2 assists, had 1 steal, and had 1 rebound. At the same time, the Grizzlies had trouble at the start of the quarter, shooting 2/8 from the field and 0/3 from deep for a total of 7 points. Shooting Guard Dillon Brooks was included in those on the Grizzlies who had a sluggish start to the quarter, shooting 0/4 from the field and 0/3 from the three point mark for no points. Small Forward Kyle Anderson recorded 2 points. Power Forward Brandon Clarke recorded 2 points. Center Jonas Valanciunas had 2 points and had 1 rebound.

Despite the good start to the 4th Quarter, the Cavaliers struggled scoring to round out the quarter, scoring 5 points while going 2/9 from the field and 0/3 from three. The Grizzlies, simultaneously, had no trouble finishing out the period, adding 17 points on 5/10 shooting (2/2 from the three point mark). The Cavaliers lost against the Grizzlies 91-101. Andre Drummond was the main contributor of the quarter, scoring 6 points. On the Grizzlies, Dillon Brooks scored 5 points.
